Are you looking for a different type of Karaoke night?
Jim Casey is not your typical Karaoke host. In fact, Jim absolutely despises
Karaoke. Ok, that may be taking a bit too far. However, Jim Casey truly spices
up a Karaoke show by instituting a "2-Minute Gong Rule" which leads me to
this...
America's
Most Controversial Karaoke Show
Every
Thursday night at the Barnhouse Tavern on Route 35 in Windham, Maine, Jim Casey
presents "America's Most Controversial Karaoke Show". It's like
American Idol meets The Gong Show with the host being a worse singer than
Sanjaya Malakar (REALLY!)
Isn't that against some sort of Karaoke Code?
Let's just say for that I bend the
rules a little bit. In fact, I break a lot of the old rules.
1. No books - That's right I do NOT use books to catalog my Karaoke music. I
have over 10,000 Karaoke songs for you to choose from and it is next to
impossible to keep up with it all, so I have decided to go without books. For
the most part, people know what they want to sing and can request such. If I do
not have that song, I will make every effort to have the song the following
week.
2. No pitching of music or voice enhancement -
Simply stated: If you cannot make yourself sound good "au natural" (is
that even spelled right?), no amount of
enhancement is going to help. The "professional" Karaoke singers usually have a
problem with this, but that is not who my Karaoke show is aimed at.
3. Sing well or hear the bell - Basically if you
are really lousy and the crowd is demanding you stop, you will be gonged off the
stage. BTW, everyone gets at least a two minute chance to sing.
Check me out at the Barnhouse
Tavern on Route 35 in Windham (near the intersection of Route 302) every
Thursday night from 8:00pm - 1:00am
Watch for our new contest to be announced soon.
Plus, you never know who might be
making an appearance next!
