After 12 years as a mobile
DJ
Entertainer, and almost 24 as a Disc Jockey, I have heard many of
the same questions time after time, Below is a small guide to answer
some of these questions..
1. How many events have you performed at ?
a. As of May 2009, I have performed at over 350 wedding
receptions, 100 corporate parties, dozens of bar/bat mitzvah
receptions, and numerous other parties.
2. May I see
you perform at a wedding reception or bar/bat mitzvah?
a. No. My policy is to NOT allow viewing of my services at
wedding receptions or other private functions. It would be unfair
and unethical of me to allow a stranger to "pop-in" and watch even a
few minutes of their big day. It would give the impression that I
care more about the "next sale" rather than the party in front of
me. I would much rather lose a booking than allow my service to be
compromised at ANY private function.
3. Where do
you meet your clients?
a. Your event and its details are private. I maintain an office in
the Southborough Business Park in South Portland, Maine to maintain
your privacy.
4. How much
do you charge?
a. Hard to answer without knowing about your event first. One thing
about my service is that I am not commodity (i.e. you cannot tell
the difference between one firm's product and another.)
Instead, I offer a unique service that makes
the event planning process easier for Jim Casey Entertainment
clientele and is essential in enhancing your event.
I provide many services above and beyond the typical DJ service.
What I can tell you about my pricing is that it is well above all
traditional push and play DJ services (typically $400 - 900).
5. Why are you so expensive?
a. For the level of service I provide, I am considered very well
priced.
Consider that Jim Casey Entertainment is actually a division of my
business called djmaine.com, LLC. All of the divisions are wedding
related so that I may keep up to date with trends and help my future
clientele even more.
Along with maintaining a professional office in the Southborough
Business Park in South Portland, I am fully insured, started the only Association for
Maine DJs called the Maine Disc Jockey Network, own the
Maine
DJ Directory, constantly receive training from the Top
professionals in the country to maintain an edge to my service, etc.
In other words, I am a
Full-Time Professional. This is how I make my living. 90% of
DJs in this country are Part-Time Hobbyists.
6. Are you insured?
a. Yes. I carry a $2,000,000 liability policy for your protection.
7. Are you limited to only 4 or 5 Hours because you have another
event?
a. NO! The venue dictates the time allotted for a wedding reception.
I will generally play only ONE EVENT PER DAY (although rare
exceptions are made). This assures you that the quality of Disc
Jockey Services you will receive from me will be at the highest
level.
8. Are you a "High Strung DJ"? or Do you make yourself the "Center
of Attention"?
a. Another way to word this question is "are you an obnoxious DJ
that does nothing but play games, use props, or make a spectacle of
myself"? The answer is NO!
I will customize your event to your needs, I will motivate only when
the time is appropriate, while not intentionally making a spectacle
of myself. I am NOT the center of attention, YOU are. If you do want
games and props, I certainly do offer them.
9. How early do you arrive prior to an event?
a. My arrival time is guaranteed to be 30-60 minutes prior to the
contracted start music time You are never charged for this except if
there is any extra time required outside of 60 minutes (i.e. the
venue requires someone to be setup 4 hours early) will be charged a
nominal early set-up fee of $100 per hour (rounded to next hour).
10. What do you wear to a wedding reception?
a. I will always dress in appropriate attire according to the event
and your wishes. For weddings and school proms, I will always be
dressed in a tuxedo unless otherwise requested.
I'm sure you have more questions
than this. Call me toll-free at (877) DJ-MAINE for more information.

Every bit as professional as you could wish for. He
kept the dance floor packed all night and never let
us go off schedule (but was totally
flexible and un-intrusive at the same time!) He let
the boys borrow the mic for a heartfelt rendition of
"Sweet Caroline"! This is an interesting observation
but I have never heard so many compliments at a
wedding about the volume of the music. It was never
uncomfortable- he exceeded our expectations! He was
always easy to get hold of and was very friendly-
we really enjoyed working with him!
